If I’d Known – Original Poem

If I’d known that was the last time I would touch those soft sensual wet lips or get lost deep in your eyes…

If that moment when I said I loved you were our last would it change a thing?

I still feel you every morning
The brush of the wind; your breath
The warmth of the sun; your angelic glow
The smell of the linens; the nectar of your skin

I dream about you each time I open my eyes
Your voice is in the song of the birds
Your heart beats next to mine until my last breath

If I’d known I would not wake another morning with you by my side, I would be lost
Lost with no direction

You gave me vision for a better tomorrow; promise of a new beginning

I took for granted your touch
I accepted your generosity without compromise
I welcomed you into the hidden corridor of my soul

You captured me and locked me away in this prison of eternal happiness.

If I’d known you would be gone would I sacrifice my life for you?

As I look in the mirror, beyond my skin, beyond my soul and in the trenches of places we never see that control our every emotion, I say yes

If I’d known this was our last goodbye, I would hold so close the pain and love would become one.

I didn’t know

Now I cry, not for my loss but tears of happiness for all you have given me.

Never Forgotten – Original Poem

I have seen the bliss of the sun and the fiery pits of hell
I looked all around for a familiar voice; a friend; an embrace of life’s salvation
In a moment of complete darkness, I looked to the light for answers
It was then that the darkness would fade to emptiness

Years would pass
Without hope
Without answers
Without the truth

The stars brought isolated moments of peace
The quiet breeze sent signs of hope
The cold morning freeze stopped the pain

Still time continued as this lonely path converted from a mission to empty steps

In the bottle amnesia would serve as temporary comfort
Chasing away the nightmares
Sleep was within grasp
Behind me, years have passed with no memories

Today I awaken to the same haunting past
Where tomorrow leads, I do not know
I am still fighting my demons, aching for resolution

I can only remember now
Never to forget
A life once led, not carried forward with my words and actions

I miss you

Falling Into You – Original Poem

First voice in the morning; last at night
The energy that lights my candle
Whispers of friendship have blossomed into endearing love
But wait, time can destroy this union of destiny

It is about you now; it has to be for you are the flame that lights the sun

The world has shrunk to a small space reserved for you and I

Life is a journey traveled alone until the soul runs weary, rests on a stone and relies on the comfort of another to continue the path

Let’s just be
You and me
Alone, together for all eternity

I want to bleed your love

Did I say I love you?
I am a fool because I have not said it enough
I am a jester because I exposed my weakness with my words

My fear is your strength
You hold me in your arms with the power of a thousand armies
Your sword pierces my will to live; your words conquer this momentary bliss

Hold me til I die and then hold me a little longer

My paranoia is that someday I will fleet away to a pond of loneliness
The water will quench my thirst, but the drought of your absence will send me to this grave

I’m a lucky man
For just one moment I found you
Locked in your eyes I found the answers to questions too distant to reach

You are the shelter that will save me from this storm
With this power you can release me and destroy me
To my knees I go and wait…

A Passing Love – Original Poem

Like the shadows creeping up in the distance, I will always be by your side
My body may be gone, but this spirit rests inside your restless heart

It is the gift of life in death that keeps my memory alive
It is you that bears the torch
It illuminates the courage I could not express to you
It fuels the flame of a passion so intense that the wetness of my lips on yours can still be felt

Now you must rest and hold me close
Each memory a bed time story as you dream of a time when we both fell from the clouds and landed in the womb of a divine love

You can hear me in the wind
Whispering soft nothings in you ear and touching your velvety skin with the breast strokes of a brush resting on the canvas of life

Now the future is before you.
You are not alone
I am always close caressing your body with the embodiment of heaven’s assistance

Look to the stars for light, the sun for guidance and our love for safety

Don’t ever forget for I am not gone but a partner in your continuing journey
