“Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood.” – George S. Patton
It has all come down to this.
The purest form of competition.
All season to earn the right to play on the biggest stage in college basketball.
It is your moment to shine.
Your moment to show the world you have what it takes.
It is the moment you are most alive.
The moment you see your past, present and future come together.
You give everything you have to prove you are the best.
It all comes down to this.
Life is determined by a series of moments.
March Madness reminds us that we all have a chance to be great.
We all have an opportunity to be on top.
Give it your all, be a team, release all your energy and you have a chance to be the best.
Enjoy this video retrospective of March Madness!!!
In the end, it is not whether you win or lose, it is whether you gave everything you had….
March Madness is upon us.
It is the single most purest form of adrenaline and competition.
Young men and women dedicating an entire season for the chance to shine for the world.
You win, you continue
You lose, you go home.
If you are fortunate to be one of the two remaining teams and twenty-two young adults being watched by millions, it is magic.
Words cannot explain the feeling of walking on the court and knowing you are one two best teams in the nation.
It is the crowning achievement and for the select few that make that game winning shot, they will live in infamy as they legacy will carry over year after year as generations share in the memory of a poetic journey to greatness.
Let us set aside the gambling, the lost productivity time during this three week period and the behind the scenes deal to attract the top high school talent and focus on childhood dreams being realized. Thousands of hours on the playground escaping to a fantasy world where crime and poverty are not embedded into the framework of their lives. Every shot is a reminder of the dream to someday look into the stars and see themselves.
Words cannot explain the exhilaration and heartache that catapults through the veins of these players.
When CBS stumbled upon this song by Michigan Singer/Songwriter David Barrett and then lend the voice of Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross and Jennifer Hudson, it was a match made in heaven.
Listen for a moment and absorb the power of this song:
The ball is tipped
and there you are
you’re running for your life
you’re a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows…
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT’S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME
But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment’s gone
And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE
Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it’s more than a contest
it’s more than a race…
And when it’s done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew…
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT….
We all fantasize about that moment. Forget 15 minutes. It only takes a few seconds to gain immortality.
It is when you feel the highest point of life and the most fulfilling mission in life.
As we get closer to this month that brings families, friends, co-workers and teammates together, don’t just watch the games but mentally put yourself on half court as the ball is about to be tipped and realize the dream that is being lived out at that moment.
Life is about taken the few incredible moments, embracing them and holding on forever.
