Dance Between the Sheets – Original Poem

By Mark A. Leon

Your black lace panties still dangle on the end of my bed
Scent of that defiant perfume lingers in the air
Heart still racing from the memories of a few short hours ago

Still feel the softness of your hair as it slipped through my fingers and my last snapshot is the back of your hair and naked back

A silhouette of absolute perfection

A night so wrought in raw animal passion, now a fleeting reminder

You handcuffed me with your mind
A sultress with the eyes of an angel, the touch of a fragile feather and the bite of sharp broken glass

You left scars
Bite marks
Blood from nails of ecstasy

I begged for the pain
The hot wax dripping
The long deep soul sharing kisses
The thirst for more

In the brief hours of rest, I was lulled by your heartbeat
It cast a spell and sent me to a fantasy world where you and I ruled a kingdom of two
A blessed place where fate guided two strangers through the forest of heaven

Your breasts heaving into mine
Legs wrapped tight
Hands embraced

I held on knowing in the end, I would lose the subconscious tug of war

I toss, still craving the touch of your inner thigh
Moaning at the thought of one more touch
One more penetrating moment

But you’re a runaway
Escaping from my arms
Calling the road your home

A wicked game you play, my angel of the darkness

I Stare at the door hoping for one more dance under the sheets

Goodbye Doc – Original Poem

Beach-Rays-of-Light-Wp-long-goodbye

By Mark A. Leon

I always wondered if our love was strong enough to sustain
Maybe tomorrow we would be better
So many questions unanswered

You had me at first sight
A cliché formulated into a reality
A Gatsby moment frozen in time
Every girl a prize
You, a vision, beyond reason, beyond attainment

I wished to see you again for minutes, days, months
Time would pass without purpose
Then you appeared, again, the girl who captivated my heart

I found you under the glimmer of the setting sun in the darkness of this abandoned building

One toast and we were both drawn into this fantasy
With a sip of champagne, we leaped

I burned for a love I never thought I would attain
We were a country song with a tragic ending
I perfect love with an imperfect story

I found treasure on the sands of Rincon
Touched heaven in the mountains of Blue Ridge
I sipped the wine of our savior from your lips

Those Polaroid moments, so still, so permanent in my heart
So few, yet so important to our journey

Now you kiss the fields of the Midwest
I soak in the crest of the coastal wave

I watch the sun rise ask I think about where you are
I remember fondly

Perfection never lasts

It comes unexpectedly and kisses you with the power of a waterfall and the scent of sweet honey

Goodbye Doc

For a love unfulfilled, I ponder
For the strength you instilled, I cherish

I’m older now, but for you I still feel like a child

This Is Our Love Story – Original Poem

Losing-love-324x160

By Mark A. Leon

This is our love story
Restless hearts
Empty dreams

Songs remind us of the memories left behind
The soundtrack of our lives

Washed away with the ocean waves
I love you
Written on notes
Launched in a thousand bottles looking for a home

You are a bittersweet glass of whiskey flowing inside my body and biting away at my heart
Poisoning my blood with a love I cannot let go

Were you afraid to tell me the truth?
To commit to the unknown
You said you were scarred

We are all scarred
Life attacks us with razors cutting deep
Deeper than the skin
Deeper than the nerves
To places we cannot comprehend

I asked you to stay
I wanted more, but hid behind the comfort of simplicity

You didn’t trust my intentions
You didn’t trust your own heart

Now, you are with another, alone
Fighting the demons of your past
Looking for a way to find happiness in the future

Are you happy?
I ask, knowing there is no answer to be spoken

Back and forth
Like a see saw tottering with highs and lows
Grounded, then lifted to the sky

What if it was my face you saw in the hourglass in front of the fortune teller
My name you wrote on your notebook over and over
Or did you?

Did I do enough to hold onto your magical qualities?

Too many questions.
This is our love story

I Was Too Young – Original Poem

Last-Journey

By Mark A. Leon

In a world wired for two, I hear your heartbeat above all the noise
In a world void of answers, filled with empty dreams and doubts amidst, I forgot you

Hypnotized by instantaneous emotion, swept away like a cloud caught in the wind, I was lost
Driven by the need for acceptance by the drones of an uncivilized land, I fought an invisible enemy

I was too young
Too restless
I thought I wanted more
To see the road and live by its words

I was led by the constant pressure for more
The depths of my soul
Passionate for meaning

I run away from my inspiration
Your voice has remained
My direction home

No excuse
No looking back

Life is a torturous journey to a conflict of light and fear

Your kindness hangs on my mind
So much time lost
So much I want back
To remember the days we never experienced together

My greatest treasure was your kindness
I squandered it in the depths of the mud as I dredged on

I needed room
I was suffocating in this closet
Closing in
Inch by inch

I had to break the chain to find what I had all along

I was too young
A hazard
Reckless abandon

Now youth reborn
Be mine

A Fine Frenzy – Musical Playlist

Born in Seattle, Washington to two dramatic arts teachers, Sudol and her mother moved to Los Angeles after her parents divorced when she was five years old. She didn’t see her father, John Sudol, often while she was growing up. She grew up listening to a wide range of music, including Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, and swing.
She graduated from high school at the age of 16, and considered herself “nerdy and quiet.” Sudol did not “drink or smoke or do anything like that.” She stated in an interview “I was so nervous about going into college like that and super young. I figured I would take two years and try to find out what I was doing with music. And when I was 18, I was just so deep into it that I didn’t want to stop. At age 18, Sudol started her first band, Monro.

Sudol had a passion for literature, and immersed herself in the works of C. S. Lewis, E. B. White, Lewis Carroll, Anthony Trollope, and Charles Dickens. Her band’s name, “A Fine Frenzy,” is taken from a verse in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “The poet’s eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven” (Theseus, Act 5, Scene 1). After teaching herself to play the piano, she began putting her creative energy into writing songs.
