Other Half of My Soul – Original Poem

By Mark A. Leon

Every time the wind blows, I hear your voice
Waiting for the waves to wash up your bottle
A sacred blessing in a pool of broken dreams

This rock is my home, my eyes a lighthouse, my heart the siren calling you in
Drunk on the fog and loneliness I run weary

Never to give up hope
Every minute, a chance

Sails from distant shores parade their masses
Are you on one of them?

A surprise from the ocean gods
Gift wrapped in a smile

Will the infinite sea swallow up this faith?

The congregation of dolphins sing

Pastor on the pedestal of white clouds

Waiting for my prayers to be answered
Let me sacrifice myself for her safety
Let me give my life so that she may have another

Let me be remembered in her children and grandchildren as I lay peacefully in my eternal rest

On this rock, I sit screaming silently
Each morning I arrive
Each night I sigh

Will this day bring her home?
Will this be the day I am reunited with the other half of my soul?

I sit and wait today
Rain cleanses this worn-out skin

There is No Tomorrow – Original Poem

I should have told you that night
Under the sky
Beneath the pale moonlight
I hid behind the words
Behind the cold rain

I hinted with a kiss
Yet did not provide the answer you sought

I should have opened my heart and bled out the passion I felt inside

It fleeted away as you drove into the darkness

The speech still being recited over and over in infinite repeat

You are the one that heals my pain
The one that brings hope to my dreams
Brightens the dimly lit path of my future

You were sent to me by a force greater than I

I drink your lust
I cradle your humble comfort
I draw warmth from the kindness you wear so well

We dreamed together one night
Two minds lost in a surreal sea, together lost on this boat
Our minds found their way to each other
Fantasy met reality and we willed ourselves to a land of wonder and destiny

That night
That one fated night

We knew of a love so powerful we could not speak of it
We experienced a force so fierce, our fear held us back
We were comforted to an absolute peace

I should have told you
Not once
Not twice
But every moment you breathe this Earth

I should have told you

She is the blessing the prophets penned
The tranquility where life and death meet

The perfect storm
The perfect love
The imperfect heartbreak

I should have told you
I love you

Unfulfilled – Original Poem

Looking into the eyes of another I can only see you.
From smile to toe, I am a vision of beauty to a man I cannot love
My emptiness inside is the void that can only be filled by the warmth of your touch

Give me the strength to hold you in my thoughts
Can you see now; I am using the power of our energy and love to retain this last breath of sanity hanging on the edge of a cliff

If I fall, will you catch me before the abyss swallows me whole?
If I close my eyes, will you be waiting in my dreams?
If I pray for your love, will you arrive with a bow?

I will continue this charade of matrimony
I will shed blood on this life long promise

He is by my side under the satin sheets but alone I lay
My heart beats faster and faster as it is torn into metaphoric shreds

I cannot escape this game of love that has become my life

What can I do?

Kiss the man whose name I have taken or rest beneath the stars that I share under the dark sky shared by my true love
