Something in the Way She Moves – Why Women are the Key to Happiness

As a man, I can say comfortably that we are simple folk. We have simple common ways of thinking, actions and thought processes. We are the hunters and gatherers, the quiet communicators, the competitive spirits and the comforting companions. We think sensibly and act progressively. We are the backbone and the cornerstone of progress, but history will dictate as well as the future that we are billions of empty souls wondering aimlessly through life without the blood that makes our heart pump.

That blood with its nutrients and fortified vitamins of life is the woman that gives us the guidance, confidence and strength.

Women are:

  • Irrational
  • Emotional
  • Passionate
  • Intuitive
  • Nurturing
  • Comforting and protective
  • Strong
  • Emotionally centered while always thinking outside the box
  • Crazy and neurotic in a way that makes them irresistible
  • Sexy
  • Scholarly
  • Heroes without the need for recognition
  • Patient to our needs
  • Prepared in times of danger
  • Always there with open arms

When I think about the women in my life from infancy to adulthood, so many flash through the theater inside my head. From mothers, to sisters, to teachers, to girlfriends, to lovers, to companions, to friends, to strangers and beyond.

Each one has left something behind.  Something meaningful that has sculpted my entire being.

Let me be the first to say, women are crazy. Crazy in the amazing, cannot stop thinking about them kind of way.  Some in their words and others in their actions.

There isn’t a decision in my life that has not been powered by the influence of a woman.  Think about every aspect of your life.

What does your life entail?

  • Fashion
  • Sports
  • Business
  • Family
  • Education
  • Hobbies
  • Dating / Marriage / Partnership
  • Friendship
  • Arts (Writing / Photography / Film / Theater)
  • Nurturing (Hospitals / Clinics / Nurses)
  • Teamwork

How many of the above bullet points in your life are heavily influenced or assisted by the hand of a woman?

I thought so.

Why then do I still continue to hear so many stories of corporate prejudice, domestic violence, divorce, social inequity, emotional withdrawal and genders divided?

I wish I knew the answer but unfortunately, like so many of my fellow inhabitants of this earth, we are lost for a resolution.

I am going to leave you with this:

Love is the defining core of the good in humanity.  It is a simple gesture, a warm thought, a kind act.  It is as easy as the feel of a human touch and as lasting as the depths of the universe.  Accept the perfection that is in women and embrace all they have to offer.

They are our reason for living, in the past, present and future.

When you find a woman that is beautiful inside and out and she gives herself to you in some capacity, accept, embrace and give back equally.

You will find yourself in a much better place in the end.

A Letter of Thanks

In a day and age where all thoughts, emotions and testimonials can be summed up into a text, it becomes ever so important to express my deep and warm gratitude to those individuals with the imagination, admiration and love to give of themselves each and every day.

As I reflect on the last year, it has been filled with personal tragedy and struggle. Nights of unanswered questions, lives lost well before their time and obstructions in the path of life.

From tears heard across another continent, to new lives being welcomed into the world, to parents watching their children laid to rest, to disaster ripping families from their homes; I have spent many a long quiet evening in a meditative state trying to piece this puzzle of life together.

Each time, I draw the same conclusion: It is in the outstretched arms of those that have continuously put others ahead of themselves, who have greeted every challenge with passion and hope and been that shoulder to lean on that I need to personally thank. Not due to a holiday or an end of the year need to repent, but because they are the foundation of this wall that provides me shelter from the storm and fuels my drive.

I thank you

  • I thank you for being patient with me when I had to make many sacrifices to be by the bedside of a dying friend.
  • I thank you for emotionally being by my side and relying on me even though an ocean separated us
  • I thank you for allowing me to bear witness to your life changing events
  • To those that called, emailed or sent a picture or cute message at the most opportune time when I really needed it, I am eternally grateful
  • I am not perfect, a scholar or always a gentleman.  I have flaws and for the few that understand and accept me, words do not say enough about how important you are in my life
  • Some have been unconditionally supportive to me through my writing, my vision on life, my creative ups and downs and for that I bow to you
  • To you, the one that finds inspiration in my writing and acts upon it with a closer hug, a warm message of love, a charitable act or seeing life with a little more happiness, you are my reason for living

Sometimes, I lie out on the beach or an open field gazing upon the stars vast in the sky that reach infinitely through the cosmos. Right at the moment it begins to sink in how small we are in the scheme of the universe, memories rush through my head.  Good refreshing memories that put a smile on my face.  They are visual images of times I have spent with you; all of you.  Each person that is important in my life has an equal piece of my heart and as you have and continue to shape who I am, I hope my actions and my words help you understand how you have given me all a man could ask for.

To my family and friends, your love continues to give me strength and energy.  Thank you.

Waste of War – Original Poem

Why must blood be spilled on this holy ground
The selfless hatred
Greed overpowering the simplicity of love

Lives lost for a greater good never defined by the virtues of humanity

Thousands of years of the ideals of harmony buried in the past with questions remaining

Generation after generation; sacrifices made
Brothers lost
Husbands perishing in the flames of strife
Children never to see through the eyes of an adult

It is a web of deception written by men of power using the blood of boys cemented by the tears of mothers

We are pawns in the game of life
Victims in a race with no finish line

We scream for unity, yet we are all deaf
Praying for an end when no one knows where it all began

Born of innocence
Raised into sin
Dying in regret

When will the warmth of a hug melt away the fear of the weapon?

It is in these words I declare a release of my inner demons and imagine a world not far from my own

A world overcome by the tenderness of adornment and weak to the touch of a gentle kiss

Now in a moment of silence, I close my eyes and dream

Free Fall – Original Poem

Picture it
Four miles above the Earth’s surface
Between the sun and the curve of the Earth, your existence comes into perspective
Moments away from freefall
Faster than sound; out of control

Every memory from womb to death rushes through your head like a lightning storm of adrenaline

Blood rushing to your brain
You feel alive; so alive
The most pure feeling; mind, body and soul as one

Alone with the whole world looking up
Closer to the surface and reality

This surreal epic journey about to climax
You will hit the surface with life and death flipping a coin to see who wins the prize

It is so clear in the blindness of your fall
This is judgment day; the ultimate decision; the infinite risk

Speed picks up
All control diminished
All feeling gone
I cannot explain this

As you reach the moment where you are in absolute absence and only the forces defined by biblical words know your fate, it becomes a fairy tale of wisdom and horror

We have reached the end
Ground grows closer
The impact will hit soon
It all comes down to this moment

If I’d Known – Original Poem

If I’d known that was the last time I would touch those soft sensual wet lips or get lost deep in your eyes…

If that moment when I said I loved you were our last would it change a thing?

I still feel you every morning
The brush of the wind; your breath
The warmth of the sun; your angelic glow
The smell of the linens; the nectar of your skin

I dream about you each time I open my eyes
Your voice is in the song of the birds
Your heart beats next to mine until my last breath

If I’d known I would not wake another morning with you by my side, I would be lost
Lost with no direction

You gave me vision for a better tomorrow; promise of a new beginning

I took for granted your touch
I accepted your generosity without compromise
I welcomed you into the hidden corridor of my soul

You captured me and locked me away in this prison of eternal happiness.

If I’d known you would be gone would I sacrifice my life for you?

As I look in the mirror, beyond my skin, beyond my soul and in the trenches of places we never see that control our every emotion, I say yes

If I’d known this was our last goodbye, I would hold so close the pain and love would become one.

I didn’t know

Now I cry, not for my loss but tears of happiness for all you have given me.

Jersey Strong – Original Poem

In the blink of an eye our world changed
Winds of change took away our homes, our memories, our keepsakes

White picket fences and the American dream destroyed in an apocalyptic rage

From the pits of hell, a path of desolation and havoc cleared brought us to tears

With the strength of a thousand horses, we were brought to our knees
Praying to voices above in hopes the clouds would part to open up its arms to a new day

Wandering the streets looking for answers

Devastation a word without definition
Searching for answers under the rubble

A vision of a war zone in the land of the free
We raised our arms to the sky with strength and unity

Jersey Strong in our hearts
Jersey Strong our will to survive
Jersey Strong the power to rebuild

In the darkest hour, a light began to shine through
Walking out of the muck and mud we began to cleanse our soul and fill our hearts with the love of the brotherhood of man

Kindred neighbors close and far have united to form a wall of fortitude with one message, “We will rise again”

One nail at a time
Lending one hand; a reassuring smile; a hug
A promise of a better tomorrow

Jersey Strong
One family, one mission, a commitment, a goal

Why Doesn’t the United States Go Public and Issue an IPO?

What an absolutely crazy and insane idea. How could someone have the audacity to propose making an entire country a publicly traded company? Just the thought of selling out our own land is the idea of a madman. Or perhaps it is pure geniune. How else can we raise billions if not trillions in capital to bring down the deficit and give billions around the world a personal stake in the future of this nation?

Let us take a few moments and look at the possible advantages of filing with the SEC for approval of the United States of America as the biggest IPO in the history of the stock markets putting little old Facebook to shame.

1. The obvious. It will raise hundreds of billions of dollars in capital we can utilize to pay down the national debt and provide funding for national programs such as job creation, environment, education and economic stimulus.

2. It gives shareholders a stake in the future of this nation. By putting a monetary value on this country, we may recycle more, think twice about waste and become more fiscally sound. Also, government spending will fall under stronger regulations.

3. The stock market performance continues to be a temperature check on the mood and sentiment of this fine nation. Why not solidify the connection.

4. The ticker symbol USA is taken, but USOA is not.

5. How often have we heard the phrase “A piece of the American dream” throughout history? Now you can officially hold a certificate that certifies that you do.

6. Government is comprised of a series of check and balances along with experts in fiscal policy, economics, business strategy, business development and operations. Utilizing these administration experts, we should be able to manage the distribution of capital and keep our shareholders happy.

I know this is a bit of an off the wall recommendation. Then again a few years ago, legalizing marijuana for recreational use was as well. We are in an unprecedented time where the world is scared, restless and concerned. The United States was build on the idea of being the #1 nation in the world and now we have slipped.

Now is the time to think about solutions. Ones with realistic goals and a chance to make a promise of a better tomorrow we can actually fulfill.

Now for the question to the audience”

“Would you buy stock in the United States as a long term investement?”

I would.
